Invisalign is an orthodontic solution that straightens teeth with clear, removable aligners. At Michael McMahon, DDS, the aligners are custom-made to fit your mouth and can be removed for eating, brushing, flossing, and other normal daily activities. Many patients choose Invisalign because the aligners are virtually invisible when worn. Additionally, treatment is typically more comfortable than traditional braces because there are no metal brackets or wires to irritate the mouth. Invisalign can correct common orthodontic problems such as overbites, underbites, open bites, crowding, gaps between teeth, and crossbites.
Invisalign creates a series of custom-made aligners that fit over your teeth and gradually move them to their ideal position. They’re made of clear, hard plastic, making them virtually invisible when worn. Each aligner should be worn for two weeks before switching to the next one in the series.
Invisalign can be used for teeth straightening and bite correction. If you have gaps between your teeth or crowded teeth, Invisalign can straighten them. If you have a crossbite, underbite, overbite, or open bite, you can use Invisalign to correct it. Also, if you have crooked teeth and want them straightened but don’t want braces, Invisalign may be a good solution. To get your teeth as straight as possible with Invisalign, patients usually need to get their aligners for at least 22 hours daily.
If you’re unhappy with your smile in any way but you don’t want to put metal braces on your teeth for an extended period, then Invisalign is an excellent option to consider.
